Prompt Status
Managing Prompt Calls and Data Privacy in LangFlair
LangFlair diligently records the text of all prompt calls for prompts marked as "Testing." This feature is designed to assist during the development phase, providing you with detailed insights to refine your prompts effectively. However, it's essential to manage the status of your prompts with cost and data privacy considerations in mind.
Transitioning from Testing to Active
Once you've completed your alpha or beta testing and are confident in the prompt's performance, it’s important to update its status from "Testing" to "Active." This change halts the recording of prompt texts, helping to manage costs and ensure the privacy of end-user data.
Why Prompt Status Management is Crucial:
Cost Efficiency: While in "Testing" mode, the recording of prompts and their responses can lead to increased costs due to the additional data storage and processing required. Transitioning prompts to "Active" status helps mitigate these costs.
Data Privacy: During testing, sensitive or personal information may be included in prompts or responses. To uphold data privacy standards, it's vital to limit the duration of testing and promptly update the prompt status once testing phases are concluded.
Steps to Update Prompt Status:
Review Your Prompts: Regularly assess which prompts are in "Testing" mode and evaluate whether they're ready to transition to "Active."
Change Prompt Status: Within LangFlair, locate the prompt you wish to update, select the option to edit its details, and change its status from "Testing" to "Active."
Confirm the Update: Save your changes to ensure the prompt's new status is applied. This will cease the recording of prompt texts for the selected prompts.
Being mindful of when and how long you're testing prompts is not just a matter of cost management; it's also a part of responsible data handling. By attentively managing your prompts' statuses, you contribute to the efficient and secure use of LangFlair in your projects.
